Tote-ally adorable

I have been sewing a lot this week, and my tote inventory is building back up. Last night I made this tote-ally cute bag which is perfect for your favorite teacher. I can see it filled with supplies and a wonderful welcome gift for a new school year.
Check out the fabric, this is Debbie Mum fabric complimented with a black/white dot fabric. The lining is solid black with a splash of the dot fabric at the top of the lining.

Not sure if I will get another tote made now before next week as I need to pack for my weekend. I am joining the Hilltop Memories, www.hilltopmemories.com gals for a fun weekend of scrapping at Kenilworth Lodge in Sebring, Florida.

I wanted to thank a friend of mine and very lovely lady for all the very nice comments on her blog she sent out yesterday about my totes/purses....thanks MC! Check out her blog. You can link to it from my list....MC's Friendship Corner.

Have a fabulous weekend and enjoy doing the things you like to do....

Hugs to you,
Teresa

Here Kitty, Kitty

Today was a fairly productive day. It rained most of the day, my favorite thing to do on a rainy day is sew. This is a product of my productivity. Little kitties...aren't they cute?

I saw this verse today on another site and I will leave you with this:

So do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring worries of it's own. Today's trouble is ENOUGH for today.......Matthew 6:34

Back to school

School will be starting before we know it....August 19th this year.
I retired a year ago, but I remember about this time each year we had very mixed emotions. We were eager to see all of our friends, colleagues and students and surely mixed the biweekly insult we used to call our paycheck...it wasn't that bad, but we used to think it was...lol.

I just finished this tote bag with all my teacher friends in mind. How fun it would be to carry your things to school in this one???

Take care,
Teresa

Happy Birthday Grandma

Tomorrow is my MIL's 84th birthday. She is a little shakey these days, so we took the party to her.
She surely enjoyed seeing everyone, but had a hard time understanding why we were all there. She asked us a million times who's birthday it was, we would tell her and then she would say...how old am I....then she would say...sweet 16 and never been kissed, but badly slobbered.....over and over and over again...LOL
Happy Birthday Great Grandma Betty!

Blue Jeans quilt

It has been a few days since my last post. Lots going on here for sure and raining cats and dogs right now.
But I did manage to finish up the blue jeans quilt made from recycled denim. I found the pattern from another post and you can check it out here: http://equilters.com/library/jeans/jeans_gallbaros.html
It was a lot of fun to do. I started it with my friend, Kathy when we visited her in Maggie Valley. My quilt has 100 squares (which started out as circles...lol) and we cut our template using a soup bowl, so it is about 7 inches across. The center fabrics are 4.5 inch squares.
This was a great way to use up those old jeans that either don't fit anymore or are worn out in the knees. And, it will be a great quilt to keep in our old car (36 Ford) to put on the ground for picnics, etc. Love how it turned out. I am showing you both sides of the quilt in the pictures.
Now it's time to get back to some totes and/or quilting one of the other ones I have going now.
Have a FAB weekend :-)

Quilting is so comforting.

I decided to start to quilt my "I spy" quilt last night. This is one of the FOUR quilts that I am working on right now (I am a true Gemini...lol). I did finish up two quilts since January and have my grandmother's half quilted...like I said in my title "quilting is so comforting". I will talk about grandma's quilt in another post.
The "I spy" quilt was a real fun one to do. My friend and I collected fabric for a couple months from friends here and out of state (Texas and New York)...thanks ladies. :-) Our squares are cut 4 inches and we have 150 squares (all different). Then we added a 2.5 inch black sashing and a 3.5 inch red sashing. I embroidered the words "I spy" in primary colors all around the quilt.
My grandsons already love to find all the fun things on the quilt.
I will post another picture of the quilt when it is finished...who knows when that will be, that other twin keeps pulling me onto other projects...LOL.

I wanted to say a BIG Happy Birthday to my longtime friend, Barb.

Take care,
Teresa

Vacation is over

Today is hubby's last day of vacation and we finally got the yard done. It took us a couple of days as we just weren't used to this heat.

Check out my begonias....I think they went crazy while we were gone. I hate to cut them back, but I will have to in a day or two.

Guess we will just relax the rest of the day and cook us a good old country dinner later on....you guessed it....green beans and all the fixins :-)

I think I will sew this week a little and I am also anxious to get back to the boys' scrapbook. It's coming along good and they get so excited to see what I have done.

Hope you all had a great weekend, don't work too hard...enjoy life and have fun.

Green Beans anyone?

We are missing the cool of the mountains today...that's for sure.
This is a picture of my Uncle Jack picking beans in my parent's garden. There is nothing like fresh veges....mmmmmm good.

Mom sent home a care package, but we wish we had those fresh veges all summer long.

Hope everyone had a nice week and ready to have a Great weekend.

Did you miss us?

Hello all,
We just got back from a wonderful vacation to visit family in Kentucky for a few days and then drove over to the Smokey Mountains and visited our neighbor in Maggie Valley (they have a summer home there).
The weather was just beautiful and we were treated like royalty..almost like we were in a bed and breakfast for the week.
Even though we had a great time....there is no place like home. It feels great to be home.

I found some wonderful new fabrics on my trip (yes, my hubby let me go to LOTS of fabric stores...lol). You will be seeing new totes posted in the very near future with some of these fun prints.
I will leave you with a picture of our friends home in Maggie Valley.

Happy Wednesday

I have been really busy the last few days scrapbooking and doing other things.
I noticed from the feed that several of you from Kentucky have visited my blog. That is so cool. My mom lives just outside of Princeton and we are visiting her soon. I guess I will just give out a wave to all of you as we pass by... :-)

I just made up cute little recipe books for a small gift to some friends and this is the recipe that I have included on the first page of all of them.

It is from KraftFoods.com
Hope you like it as much as we did.

Carrot Cake
1 pkg. (2-layer size) spice cake mix
2 cups shredded carrots (about 1/2 lb.)
1 can (8 oz.) crushed pineapple, drained
½ cup Chopped Pecans, divided
2 pkg. (8 oz. each) Cream Cheese, softened
2 cups powdered sugar
1 tub (8 oz.) COOL WHIP Topping, thawed
PREHEAT oven to 350°F. Prepare cake mix batter as directed on package, add carrots, pineapple and half of the pecans until well blended. Pour into 2 (9-inch) pans. Bake 25 to 30 min. or until toothpick inserted in centers comes out clean. Cool.
MEANWHILE, beat cream cheese and sugar with electric mixer or wire whisk until well blended. Stir in whipped topping until well blended.
Spread cream cheese mixture between layers. Frost top and sides with remaining cream cheese mixture. Garnish with remaining pecans. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

Take care,
Teresa

Gone to the Dogs

Today's post is in honor of all my 4 legged friends.
The black fabric has the cutest little paw prints.
The red fabric is the background for the sweetest little pooches. I have two of these available and will have another dog fabric to post soon.

Hope that your Sunday was what you wanted it to be. A little rain here, which was just what the lawn was screaming for.

Happy Sunday!

Purse

This has been a very popular purse this summer. Those of us that carry them absolutely LOVE them. I get compliments each time I'm out.

I have the bag in the photo, one with lavendar trim and another with a dark pink trim available. I am still on a search for this particular polk-a-dot fabric. But until I find it, I have located a dot a little smaller and the ladies that have purchased it say they like it just as well. Right Cathie?

They have pockets inside (hope you can tell that from the photo), helps to keep us all organized.

Golf bag

This is a bag that I made for my friend, Cathy. Her 3 year old son takes GOLF lessons and she says it will hold just about anything from keys, change of clothes, snack, etc.

I will post others that I have made or that are for sale in the next few days.

Happy Tuesday,

Teresa
