Tropical bag

Another of the recycled fabrics...an aqua fabric with a fun lining.

T-shirt quilt

I am in the process of making a T-shirt quilt for my son. I was not a fan of T-shirt quilts because I had always been told that you had to stabalize...yada...yada...yada. My sewing buddies were telling me about a book they had and a neat way to put the t-shirts together. No...you don't need stabalizer and it works just fine. The picture is of the squares arranged and ready to be sewn. I did get it sewn together and will hopefully get the batting and backing basted next week.

The book is by Andrea T. Funk and is called "Too Cool T-shirt Quilt".

another special order

tiny tote

special order

beachy bag

This is another of the bags that I am making from "rescued garments". I have found the coolest fabrics. Wait until you see some of them. Until I started looking....I had no idea that there were so many great garments out there just crying to be "rescued" and transformed.

Are you going on a cruise or just love the tropical look...these are surely for YOU.

Hope that you have a FUN weekend. Enjoy your friends and family.

Brrrrr

Hasn't it been cold today??? BRRRRR They say it will be even colder tonight.

I didn't leave my studio the entire day, but that's a good thing :-) Check out my new bags. These are just so much fun to make. The small bag is approximately 6 x 7 x 2 inches with pocket out the outside and snap closure inside. I have a few of these available for sale or......if you would like to make your own, you can sign up for the class at Pink Florida Threads on February 3 or 19.

The large bag is available in assorted tropical prints. These prints are "rescued" garments that have been turned into these adorable bags. Remember, I told you I was going GREEN.....LOL.....this is one of the items that I had planned for 2009. Check for more to follow.

Stay warm and think TROPICAL :-)

So many quilts, so little time

Those of you that know me know that I just LOVE quilts and quilting. I am always finding new patterns that I want to make and actually have 3 quilts in my closet right now that need to be (hand) quilted. One of them is a quilt that my grandmother pieced probably around 1950.

I have a Christmas quilt that is so darn cute that I am working to finish up the hand applique on (it's #4) and yep, today I started yet another one. My neighbor and wonderful friend and I made plans this summer to make this one. We are getting a head start for Christmas 2009. With as many as I have going....I will be lucky to have it quilted by December...lol. This is as much as we got done today. It still needs the outer sashings.

Lots going on this week....be back with updates in a day or two.

Have a great week!

365 Special Days

Good morning,

Everyone is back to work and/or back to school today and I have the house to myself. There is something that can be said for the sound of silence for a couple hours.

My week is scheduled and I am ready for 2009. 2008 is in the past....looking forward to the future with family and friends.

Some of my friends from Hilltop Memories (a traveling scrapbook company) will be doing the 365 day journal the year. Some are doing the one they purchased from Creating Keepsakes and some of us are doing our own thing with materials that we seem to have a MOUNTAIN of already.

My album is a 12 x 12 from Heidi Grace Designs (that I got for a steal last week at JoAnn's) and the paper is 27+ sheets pulled from my stash. I will be doing a page a week and since most of the paper will be double sided or card stock...I will be using both sides.

The first picture is my title page and then the next picture is WEEK one (minus Sunday- because I haven't gotten the picture printed yet). The pictures will be anything from the flowers in my garden, the grocery cart, to a new pair of shoes, to my grandsons. I will let the day guide me. And, when we look back 10 or 20 years from now...it will be kind of fun to see how things change in our world.

So far this is an easy project, but it is only week one too. Ask me again around week 15 or 30...LOL

Have a very happy Monday and I will be back soon with a picture of sewing projects :-)
