Fall Inventory

These three are for those of you that love the brown/green colors that work well for any season, but particularly well for fall and winter. Is it true...is Fall in the air???? I see the dropping temps in the north, looking forward to it heading our way.

Happy Monday

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend, I sure did. I got to spend 3 glorious days with some of the BEST ladies around....I believe Florida, Georgia and Alabama were represented this weekend at the Historic Kenilworth Lodge in Sebring, Florida. It was Hilltop Memories's (traveling scrapbook store)Annual Fried Green Tomato Crop. Yep, we had some of the yummmiest fried green tomatoes too. Linda is the best and does so much to make sure we are all well fed and totally comfortable.

I wanted to show you these three tote bags, they sold this weekend to some of my scrapbook buddies. If you like them, I do have more fabric and can recreate if you totally love them too. The one with the Pink Flamingos is going on a cruise this weekend with Kip...I am sure she will have a great time.

Antique doilies

I have these antique doilies that I have been itching to use.

Soooo...Put them together with this soft aqua fabric trimmed out with ivory and buttons and VOILA....

The apron is one size fits all and the strings are plenty long.

Fall Tote and matching Fun Purse

Don't you just love these colors???

They both have a bright yellow lining with brown handles.

Both have snap closures.

Green/black dot

I have been wanting to find time to make this purse for months now. I had a tiny piece of the green batik left from ERIN's purse and wanted to incorporate it in this bag.

It has a snap closure, two inside (open) pockets and one inside zip pocket. It is very lightweight and roomy.

About Me

Not sure why I feel like I should tell you all this today, but here it goes.

I started sewing my doll clothes at a very early age and by 10 years old, I made all my summer clothes. My paternal grandmother and my mother were both seamstresses, so it seemed like the thing to do. I totally enjoyed the creative process and moved on to sewing things for my sisters and other family members.

At the time, I was sewing on my mothers little SINGER featherweight machine built around 1950...what a wonderful machine. A few years ago, I inherited my grandmothers featherweight (it's the machine in the picture with the pin cushions on a previous blog)....love, love it. When I graduated high school, I got a job and decided I needed a brand new Singer. I wore it out..can you believe that? After that I bought another Singer, than a Pfaff, then another Pfaff which is the one I use mostly today. I do have a VIKING but mostly use it for embroidery work. If you sew very much, it's important to get a good machine....a lot less stress that way.

When I was 19 years old I made my first quilt. It is the one pictured here and was totally hand pieced and hand quilted. I love the hand quilting, but not sure I will ever hand piece a quilt again....but I have also learned...never say never :-)

I sewed all my work clothes, then my children's clothes and costumes and also all of our home decorations. Also, in the late 70's my mom and I started a very small upholstery business and did that for a couple years...wow, that's back breaking work. One of the coolest things I did was the interior of a 1967 VW Beetle that Wes and I rebuilt.

In the 80's and 90's, the kids were on a dance team and I sewed hundreds and hundreds of dance costumes. I think that is the most rewarding sewing I have ever done. To see the smiling faces and how proud they were on stage was totally awesome.

I was lucky to retire a few years ago and I can happily say that I sew almost every day of my life. I have a wonderful husband that supports and encourages my passion.

A happy day is a creative day is what I always say. I do lots of special orders, but to be honest, I love to be able to be creative and let the fabric and the moment take control.

I didn't realize that so many of you read my blog and miss me when I don't post. I will continue to try to post more, but just know that if I am gone for a few days or even a week or more...I am in here creating lots of fun things to show you.

Flower Girls

July was a very busy month for weddings. I did several alterations for bridesmaids, mother of the bride and mother of the groom.
I was also asked to make these adorable flower girl dresses for 4 adorable little girls, ranging in age from 18 months to 5 years old. Cute...cute :-)

Birthday Boy

One of the cutest little guys just celebrated his 3rd birthday with a little mini ROCK CONCERT with all his family and friends.
His mommy asked me to make him and his brothers a shirt to resemble the Imagination Movers...so that's what we did. Even his Daddy had a shirt.

Minnie Mouse for a second birthday party

I couldn't wait to post this picture, but had to wait for the big day. The day that the most adorable little girl had her 2nd birthday party.

This cute little Minnie dress was especially made for Ms. Abbigail. I can't wait to see a picture of her in it on her special day.

new batch of Pin Cushions

I am so flattered that so many people like my pin cushions. I think that I am up to 50 at this time. I sort of lost count between 45 and 50...

I have a new batch ready for this weekend. Do you see one that you want...or as someone told me today "need"...LOL

Popular FUN purse

I never dreamed when I created this FUN purse that they would be so popular.

Fact or Fiction???

Q: Why do men's clothes have buttons on the right while women's clothes have buttons on the left?
A: When buttons were invented, they were very expensive and worn primarily by the rich. Since most people are right-handed, it is easier to push buttons on the right through holes on the left. Because wealthy women were dressed by maids, dressmakers put the buttons on the maid's right! And that's where women's buttons have remained since.

The picture today is a birthday present for a friend's granddaughter. Cute little FUN purse, with cell phone pouch, credit card wallet and there is even a change purse to match (see picture below). What a sweet grandma to have something special made just for her.

Lots of color

Special orders are my "special-T" and this one was for Janie in Riverview. She wanted the colorful puzzle piece fabric for the outside. And for the pockets inside, she wanted each one (of the SIX) to be a different color. Ok...no problem there..... Janie is a very organized person and wanted to organize the inside of her purse as well. :-)







I delivered it to her about a month ago and she seemed THRILLED with her new purse.

Texas Longhorns

We have been waiting to show you all this Texas Longhorn beauty because it was a birthday present from me and Michelle to Fredy. We celebrated birthdays and Father's day yesterday...oh what fun we all had too :-)



We ordered fabric for the backing (as it's a little hard to find Texas fabric in Florida) and then Michelle started to "borrow" shirts from Fredy's closet - one by one. LOL She then got chicken and had to tell him she was taking them and gave him a little hint as to what she needed them for. It still didn't seem to spoil the surprise. He was SUPER thrilled to receive his quilt and his shirts are no longer just hanging in his closet. They are now forever preserved into this quilt for him to use and use and use.

Pin Cushion Anyone?

This has been a busy month as you can tell. I haven't blogged in about 5 weeks. Sorry!!!!
I have been creating up a storm.
I made 14 patio cushions for a lady (a referral by a friend...thanks Kathy).
A bunch of alterations, cut out a memory quilt, made purses and purses and more purses, with matching accessories. And oh yea....two more items that I will blog about in another post.

But on to the cute little PIN CUSHIONS. I had so much fun making each and every one of these. It seemed that as I made each one, it became my new favorite.
I have always admired the ones that Mary Englebritt has to offer, but wanted something with my own twist to it. Some of my scrapbook friends are making those cute stickpins and of course I want to make those too. But I wanted a FUN pin cushion to put mine in. I am so flattered at all your response so far. I made 14 and more than half of them are already gone.
Oh yes, I plan to make more of these fun little cuties.....watch for future posts here and/or facebook.
