100 year old Crazy Quilt

I am so lucky that this lady trusted me so much with her prized possession. This is a quilt that the lady that raised her started in 1910 and she asked me to finish it. It seems Inez was born in 1860...so that would make her about 50 when she made this quilt top from wool scraps and velvet scraps and a lot of colorful embroidery work. My customer was telling me the story of her mother. It seems her mother died at age 3 and she asked Inez to raise her child. So this quilt means the world to my customer and she was so pleased to have it finally finished and will display it proudly in her home with wonderful memories of her mom.
The top picture is the quilt top as it was delivered to me and below is the quilt after I added embroidery to each seam where the squares were joined. I also added the vintage looking fabric back and burgundy satin trim. The quilt was tied at approximately every 6 inches with blue DMC Cotton Perle thread.

TuTu Tote

Do you know a little girl that would love to carry her dance shoes to class in this TuTu Tote????

Can be personalized too.

Antique Quilt

Love, love love antique quilts...they seem to talk to me :-)

A customer of mine (and friend) brought me this quilt top that her mother and aunt sewed probably in the 1950's. We sure didn't have templates or rotary cutters back then but somehow they were able to put together a beautiful quilt anyway.
It took a bit of prep work and I added two borders to it and the backing...but extremely pleased at the outcome. It is machine quilted in a meandering pattern.

I love this kind of work.....if you know of anyone needing this same type of service...feel free to send them my way :-)

pillows

For a very cute litle guy....hope he likes them :-)

January????

Oh my...what happened to January??? That was the fasted month.
We started out cleaning out things and purging, I guess that was the New Year's resolution of many.

I am working on pictures and trying to get them in albums. First up on the agenda is a childhood album for my hubby.... And 3 weekends in a row at the Hilltop Memories crops helped in that challenge. The best times a girl can spend is a weekend away with the Hilltop gang :-)

I am also cleaning out my china cabinet and the buffet. I am moving from the small china cabinet that I have had for 36 years and my wonderful son is building me a glass cabinet for the top of the buffet. The construction part is finished, next up...order the glass for the doors and the shelving, then I get to paint it. I am going with white...not quite sure yet if I want to add glaze or not. It is coming along beautifully...what a lucky mama I am :-)

Sorry for no post in a month, but I promise I have been busy sewing too. I did a large alteration job, made some pillows, some bible covers, a couple purses and a quilt. Will post pictures of all of that soon. And...the cutest little dance bag...wait until you see this one :-)

Merry Christmas

I hope that all of you had a very Merry Christmas and got to spend some quality time with your family and friends.
Our holiday was wonderful, as usual. Christmas Eve at my sister's home and Christmas Day at our house with both my children, and our grandchildren. Also this year we were fortunate to have Fredy's family and two of Bryan's friends join us too. The food, the laughter, the love was beyond words. Thank you....love you all.

I have had a couple days to just "chill out". I did sew yesterday though, couldn't stand it. I hardly go a day without sewing...I love it that much.

I am so thankful for such a wonderful Craft show this year. WOW, thank you to all that supported us and made it such a huge success. I sold pretty much most of my inventory, which was such a compliment to me. Thank you...thank you. I have some ideas for next year, start watching at the beginning of summer for news.

I got a call a couple weeks ago from a dear friend that asked me to make a bible cover. I couldn't wait to get to my drawing board and get going on it. I have made the proto-type and also started on hers. I will post soon...love how it turned out. It has a handle to carry, zips all around and even a pocket on the outside for bulletins or notes.....plus a loop inside for your pen or highlighter.

They say our life runs full circle and I am such a believer in that. I have been blessed in the last couple of months to have two wonderful friends that we had not seen in years (15-20 years) come back into our lives. They are both such wonderful ladies...so glad our path have crossed once again. Hope 2012 brings many more times to get together.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the Scholle family to YOU !

More Betty Bags

Here's three more - sorry ladies, they are sold. Keep watching.

Betty Bags

My newest bag is a barrel type purse with two outside pockets on the front. Click on the picture to see them close up.
The bottom is round or actually oval, inside pocket, key fob and zip closure for purse.
The flowers are attached with a pin and can be removed to place on any other item you wish.
I am carrying a similar purse now and can't believe how well it works and hold a ton.

I decided to name my purses starting now and this one is going to be called my BETTY BAG :-)

I sold out at the Holiday Craft show last night, but will be making more after the holidays...watch for posts.

Quilt - showcasing Children's artwork

This quilt has been in the works for several months now. I love to make memory quilts and specialty quilts.

I met with the directors of the YMCA to discuss the design, etc.
Then fabric squares were provided so that their students could get to work on the the artwork. WOW...they sure did a beautiful job. I think we see some future artists in these works.
We decided that black/white fabrics would work best around each piece of student art, as to showcase the beautiful colors. And also a black/white fabric for the back as well.
The finished product is 52" x 62"

The photograph was taken outside, the colors are even more vivid in "real person".

Hope they like it as much I do.

Aqua Corduroy Tote

Curdoroy is just one of those feel good kind of fabrics.
I remember the jumpers that my sisters and I wore, and the cord pants that were so popular in our teen years...awww the memories.

Love this tote:
The bright aqua bottom, handles, and lining are a perfect compliment to the flowered curdoroy fabric on this large tote.

Inside pockets, key fob and snap closure.

If interested...let me know :-)

Texas Longhorns

My daughter is going to the Texas Longhorn game in Austin at the end of the month....she has to go in style...you know :-)

Sooooooo.....I made her this FUN purse with matching ID wallet.

Click on the picture to see the center of the flower.........HOOK EM Horns!!!

Aqua/FROG tote

I just LOVE this fabric. I bought it a couple years ago. Some fabrics I sew up right away, others I seem to hold on to for a while because I just can't part with them. Weird...I know. But this is one of those.

I am so very pleased how it turned out. What a fun bag for just about anyone.
Big enough for a diaper bag too.

Very bright, colorful and toad-ally happy bag :-)

PEACE

Peace...that has a nice sound to it...don't you think?

Have you ever wondered the history of the Peace Symbol?

Peace Symbol Created (1958): In 1958, British artist Gerald Holtom drew a circle with three lines inside, intending the design to be a symbol for the Direct Action Committee Against Nuclear War (DAC). The design incorporates a circle with the lines within it representing the simplified positions of two semaphore letters (the system of using flags to send information great distances, such as from ship to ship). The letters "N" and "D" were used to represent "nuclear disarmament." (The "N" is formed by a person holding a flag in each hand and then pointing them toward the ground at a 45 degree angle. The "D" is formed by holding one flag straight down and one straight up.)

Holtom finished his design on February 21, 1958 and the design was then first introduced to the public at a DAC march on April 4. The symbol quickly spread. In Britain, the symbol became the emblem for the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND), thus causing the design to become synonymous with nuclear disarmament. In 1960, the symbol migrated to the United States and began to be used as a symbol for the peace movement.

Click on the picture to see the fabric....these Cell phone purses can also be used for camera, Ipod or just about anything else you can think of.

If interested.....convo me :-)

Go GATORS

Two more FUN purses. Long strap can be worn cross-body or knot handle for a shorter look.

Outside pocket and snap closure.

Happy Halloween

Fall and Halloween is coming...only a month away actually.

I LOVE fall colors, especially love orange and black for some reason. I have never been a big fan of creepy monsters or things like that but when I saw this batik SKULL fabric I just had to buy it.

I sewed it into the FUN purse with the black/orange stripe handle and trim.

It has snap closure, outside pocket and orange lining inside.

Once this booooo-tiful fabric is gone, it's gone. I have a couple of these made...if you are interested...sing out now :-)

ID/ Coin purse

These little cuties are jumping off the shelf :-)

I have a pretty good assortment of colors right now, several of the ever popular GATOR too.

There is a clear plastic window on the front with a pocket inside to slide your photo ID. It is zippered at top for coins, debit card, lipstick, whatever.

Also, key ring at side and pocket on back.

Going GREEN

Green....as in recycle. Check these out......zippered wallet that transforms into a shopping bag.

I had a great time making these...no clue why I like to do zippers, but I do :-)

Terrific gift idea too.

Dogs N Cats in Black and White...oh My!

Got some of my "chores" finished up this morning so that I could spend the afternoon finishing up this cute cute bag.

Tons of pockets inside with black lining trimmed out with the BONES fabric.

Colorful and Fun

Three more...I told you I have been busy :-)

The flip flop, hibiscus fabric is complimented by denim straps and bottom and perfect for any season in Florida, or cruise, or any other time.

I am loving the lime green fabrics that are so popular now. Check out the green flower. All the flowers are attached with a pin and can be moved around to suit your needs or......removed and worn on another purse or your favorite jacket.

The multi flower comes with three removable flower pins.

All of my totes have lots of pockets inside, snap closure and key fob.
